January Coffee Night PDF Print E-mail

TAWA organized January Coffee Night at the Turquoise Center on January 21st. The programme started with a short presentation of Turkish Wedding Customs by Esra Akbay, a PhD Candidate at UTSouthwestern Medical Center.

Delicious Turkish Cuisine was enjoyed right after the presentation. It was followed by an actual "Henna Night" for three future brides; Jenny, Sewinch and Esmar.

As a custom, henna was applied on each bride's hands by elderly. All the traditional applications had been performed. Even the gold that should be located under henna was not neglected. After this ceremony, nuts, henna and Turkish Folk Dance  handkerchieves were served. In addition, guests who were interested in Turkish Folk Dance had the opportunity to learn from Medine Tosun who is the coach of Harmony Science Academy Turkish Folk Dance Group. Every one of the fifty attendees seemed to the enjoy the night and the entertainment very much.
